About Fabricate

Fabricate Designs was established in 2013 by Eithne Carey and Fiona Carey, as a way of working their careers in the creative arts and passion for designing, creating and customising clothing, accessories, couture dresses and costumes around their various other life commitments.

Aside from our carefully selected Vintage range all of our pieces are handmade or hand customised in county Wicklow, Ireland. We are committed to creating beautiful, unique, well-made wearable art!

Wherever possible, we re-use, recycle and upcycle materials. Not only does this make our pieces unique and affordable, we are also reducing waste and supporting other small businesses and charities. It also means that most of our pieces have an interesting past life! Off-cuts from ball gowns, old theatrical costumes, torn wallets, broken necklaces, worn shirts are all given new life and new purpose!

Eithne received her first sewing machine as an 18th birthday present in 1978 and has been sewing dresses for brides, bridemaids, debutantes, First Holy Communions and her four daughters ever since! She has made costumes for countless dance, theatre and musical shows over the last 30 years and is an accomplished Embroidered Textiles artist. Some of her specialist embroidery featured in Showtime's The Tudors.

Fiona trained in Fine Art and Performance Design in NCAD, Dublin and Central Saint Martins, London, and worked as a Set and Costume designer in Ireland, London, Athens and Tokyo, before establishing Fabricate Designs in 2013.
